About THLA

The Texas Hotel Association (THLA) is a nonprofit trade association representing every aspect of the lodging and tourism industry. Our membership includes all of the facets of lodging options in Texas, from the largest convention center hotel to the smallest Bed & Breakfast, along with full service and limited service operators, convention and visitor bureaus, chambers of commerce, and vendors who work within the hospitality industry. Over the last eight years, THLA has grown from the fourth largest state hotel association in the country to the largest hotel association in the nation, with over 2,500 members. The Number One Benefit of membership cited is the exclusive listing of our members on the leading tourism websites such as traveltex.com, texalodging.com, and tourtexas.com. Over $30 million dollars is spent annually promoting these websites and the publicity such as the "Texas; it's like a Whole Other Country" ad campaign results in millions of unique visitors looking for lodging every year through these website portals. Not having your property in THLA membership means you are not listed on any of these high traffic, high profile websites and is tantamount to not having a sign up at your property. A second often benefit of membership is access to legal advice about all of the laws and regulations that apply to lodging operators and entities that work within the hospitality industry. From the ability to evict a problematic or holdover guest, to a hotel's liability for guest claims of missing property, from the application of hotel tax to the charges a hotel can assess legally for local phone calls, no one has better or more up to date information than the Texas Hotel & Lodging Association.
