Texas begins here! Located on MM1 of IH-35, visiting Laredo brings you to the edge of the country and the beginning of an adventure like no other. Our City has so much to offer no matter what time of the year you decide to visit us! You can spend an afternoon kayaking along the Rio Grande River; re-live our history and learn more about the seventh flag that flew over Laredo, enjoy a round of golf in our brand new golf course or plan for a longer stay to take part in the many annual events such as our much anticipated Laredo International Sister Cities Festival this summer.
Boasting a brand new attraction, Laredo offers the new Max A. Mandel Municipal Golf Course designed by famed golf architect Robert Trent Jones II. The manmade contours delicately frame the native flora and fauna, highlighting the hundred-year-old mesquite trees and bring south Texas wildlife within ample view of the cart path.
The Max is the newest golf course in the United States. The 18-hole public course features 7,297 yards of golf which bring you right up to the edge of the country overlooking the Rio Grande. Reserve your tee time online at www.themaxlaredo.com.
The Laredo International Sister Cities Festival draws in more than 14,000 people each year, so make sure to mark your calendar for July 12-14.
The three-day event at the Laredo Energy Arena features free admission and the opportunity to shop to your heart’s content. Laredo will play host to over 180 exhibitors from all across Mexico. This is your opportunity to indulge in a cultural experience without having to step foot across the border. Exhibitors bring their native wares, textiles, wrought iron furniture, pewter, leather goods, delicious Mexican snacks and the list goes on!
If you can’t make it to Laredo in time for the Sister Cities Festival, don’t fret, Mexican imports are available year-round along the San Bernardo Avenue 40-block sector. The avenue specializes in group events and can provide hours of bargain hunting and an urban adventure.
If you enjoy watching and learning more about South Texas avian beauties pack your bags and bring your binoculars. Laredo’s location on the Rio Grande puts it on the migratory path of many different species of birds. Great viewing can be found along several nature sites including Lake Casa Blanca and Las Palmas trail, on the Texas A&M International campus, North Central Park and of course along the edges of the Rio Grande.
You can count on Laredo’s lodging facilities to make your stay on the South Texas border a home-away-from-home experience.
Accommodations include all new suite properties and established favorites that have been constants on the Laredo landscape for more than a century.
Immerse yourself in a community with a truly authentic identity and a history older than the U.S. itself created by explorers of yesteryear and its geographic location on the edge of two countries for most of its past.
Laredo’s warm weather creates the perfect ambiance for a weekend of fun and relaxation! Your taste buds will tell you that delicious is Laredo! Mexican, Tex-Mex and just about anything else has a Laredo flare, that sets it apart from all those other pieces of Texas realty, so come for the authentic Mexican food and stay for the flavor.
We hope to see you here soon!
